Mission Statement: The mission of Balboa School is to provide a diverse educational environment that promotes high academic standards, cultivates creativity, and builds the skills necessary for college, career and civic life.

Balboa School is an accredited, 1-12 private school in Escondido, San Diego County offering college preparatory curriculum in smaller classes. For new students, school rapidly becomes an experience they actually look forward to. Rules, expectations, and lessons are well communicated to students and parents. We create positive learning experiences that encourage students to actively engage with the curriculum and work towards mastery of academic goals.

It has been our experience that given the right motivation and environment, our students can achieve academic success well beyond traditional expectations.

Certification: Balboa School has been accredited by WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) since 1998 and is a member of the College Board. The majority of Balboa courses are approved by the University of California’s A-G system. Balboa is NCAA certified allowing all student athletes to be eligible for athletic scholarships.

Escondido is located 30 miles from the center city in one of the county’s oldest communities. Balboa School is located near the downtown area of Escondido with close proximity to The Escondido Center for the Arts, and City Hall

School

Balboa School is a private school serving students in grades K-12 with a focus on college-preparatory education. The school is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) as well as AdvancEd, is a member of The College Board, and certified by the NCAA. Balboa School has a very diverse population, attracting students from all over the world. Currently, 35% of the school population is international and 65% are domestic

Academics

The academic program at Balboa School is driven by the highest possible learning expectations for students. Our proficiency-based learning and graduation policies ensure that all students leave as highly literate and skilled graduates. During their high school career, students have access to multiple AP courses such as: Physics, Statistics, Calculus AB/BC, English, Spanish and Chinese. Most students take 3-4 AP Courses during their high school career here at Balboa School. A year-long, interdisciplinary Capstone project for Seniors culminates the secondary school experience. All learning experiences are academically rigorous and intended to prepare students for success in college, career, and civic life. Balboa School also offers ESL assessment and layered ESL support courses for international students who do not already have a high level of English proficiency.

College Counseling

Students receive an individualized, comprehensive approach to college counseling throughout their high school years. Based on their interests and skill set, counselors guide students in researching careers and choosing a college major that is right for them. Each student at Balboa School, receives an account with Naviance, a comprehensive college and career readiness solution for middle and high schools that helps align student strengths and interests to post-secondary goals, and improve student outcome.

San Diego County is California’s 2 nd largest county and has a population of over 1.3 million. Southern California is known for its mild year-round climate and beautiful beaches.
