Balboa School has been accredited by WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) since 1998 and is a member of the College Board. The majority of Balboa courses are approved by the University of California’s A-G system. Balboa is NCAA certified allowing all student athletes to be eligible for athletic scholarships.

a world-renowned accrediting association and one of the six regional accrediting agencies in the United States, works closely with the Office of Overseas Schools under the U.S. Department of State. WASC is responsible for accrediting schools in California, Hawaii in the US and international schools in East Asia with American-standard curriculum.

Attending a WASC-accredited school will make it easier for a student's transcript to be accepted by many other accredited schools. In addition, the process of transferring and applying to university in the US or other countries is also faster and more convenient.

is a member-led organization dedicated to the well-being and lifelong success of college athletes. This is a non-profit organization representing athletes who are students of 1,268 universities, colleges, and schools across North America, including the United States and Canada, but mainly in the United States. It is the NCAA that organizes major school sports competitions across the United States in many subjects with about 480,000 athletes who are students of colleges and universities in the United States participating annually. The current headquarters of the NCAA is located in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA.

When accredited by Cognia, schools will receive standard accreditations from the Central North American Association for Accreditation of Education (NCA CASI); Northwestern Association of Accreditation (NWAC), Southern Association of Schools and Colleges Accreditation and Improvement Council (SACS CASI). These accreditation results are also recognized by six other educational accrediting organizations in the North American region. Cognia accreditation helps students' academic credentials to be recognized internationally on a global scale.

National Honor Society

Balboa School is a member of the College Board of National Honor Society.

The National Honors Society (NHS) is a nationwide organization for high school students in the United States and its far-flung territories, covering many chapters in high schools. Selection is based on four criteria: scholarship (academic achievement), leadership, service, and character. The National Honor Society requires some type of service to the community, school, or other organization. Yorktown Youth and Seniors chapter membership with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 and recommended by the NHS faculty advisory board. The announcement was made in March and interested candidates should take the YHS Candidates National Honor Society course at Canvas.

Members are required to perform a minimum of 30 hours of service per year. Members are required to attend all meetings, pay an annual membership fee, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, and maintain standards for scholarship, leadership, service, and character.
