Primary school is an important stage in children’s life. For each student, school is the second family, so they will carry a little anxiety for the first time going to school. The Vietnamese American dual diploma program’s students have had the first time to get used to the school/teachers and new friends. Especially, without a good foundation of English, getting acquainted with foreign teachers is the big challenge. But thanks to the dedication and heart of the teachers, the children soon became acquainted with the teacher, integrated with their friends, became more interested in school and enjoyed every school day.

So what is the secret for the teachers at the Vietnamese American dual diploma program to do that?

3. Loving children from heart

Without loving and understanding children, the teacher will not know what they want through every seemingly simple act and gesture. For younger children, sometimes a look makes teachers understand many things better.

2. Applying positive discipline

In an environment that is both physically and mentally safe, loved, respected and treated fairly, students will be developed best. From that, teachers and program staff together apply Positive Discipline in all teaching and learning activities.

This is a measure to change chilren’s negative behavior while not to cause physical and mental harm in them. Positive ways of disciplining children are based on methods: natural and logical consequences; forming and establishing rules and discipline in schools, classes, and families; lull time.

Applying the rule voive volunm inside and outside the classroom helps children get used to classroom discipline. The methods will help children feel responsible for their own behaviors, encourage them to make responsible decisions and learn good manners without being scolded by adults. While purpose of using natural and logical consequences is to teach children responsibility, setting rules is to protect children. Rules and routines create a basis for children to understand what behaviors are appropriate, what behaviors are inappropriate and where are the limits.

3. For children to learn through play

️Every lesson at the Dual Diploma Program is always filled with fun games. The latest research on children's brain development shows that learning through games is the shortest way for children to acquire knowledge and create new ideas.

The games in each lesson are designed separately to help children apply knowledge in practice. This not only helps children remember for a long time but also apply knowledge to solve problems. Moreover, motor games are interspersed with static activities to help children not only increase concentration and interest in lessons, but also develop physical movement, increase agility and flexibility in reflexes and thinking.

Through each lesson, the Vietnamese American dual diploma program has been and will always try our best for the comprehensive development of the children.
