About Winnipeg School Division
Winnipeg School Division (WSD), founded in 1781, is the largest and oldest school board in the province of Manitoba. WSD has a total of 78 schools that offer quality, innovative training programs. More than 33,000 students attend the same system from kindergarten through 12th grade. The school environment at WSD promotes the development of each student's potential and provides an equal opportunity to develop knowledge and skills.
WSD teachers are government-certified teachers, the system has a wide range of support services for international students: career counseling, interpretation in different languages, homestay services, and support transfer to colleges and universities after graduation…. Besides, students with good achievements can participate in advanced academic programs: IB and AP. In addition to the academic program, the schools have many clubs and sports for students to choose from.
WSD is located in the heart of Winnipeg, the capital of the province of Manitoba. Winnipeg is a friendly city of about 700,000 people. The city has a stable economy and cultural diversity with many festivals throughout the year for students to explore while studying here: Folkorama, Fringe Fest, Culture Day, Folk Fest… In addition, students can enjoy participating in many outdoor activities such as boating, cycling, walking...
Education programs
Manitoba Provincial High School Diploma Program
WSD's elementary to high school curriculum follows the Manitoba provincial curriculum framework. Upon completion of high school, students will be awarded the Manitoba High School Diploma, which is an internationally recognized Manitoba high school diploma. The program includes compulsory subjects such as science, society, art, English… and many electives that allow students to choose courses that suit their interests and goals.
Note: Not all WSD schools accept international students and students under the age of 12 must live with a parent or legal guardian.
Short-term experience
The goal of the program is to help international students experience the Canadian high school environment and improve their foreign language: English or French. The program does not issue transcripts. Students will attend classes for 3 to 5 months. Students will participate in daily classes and experience real life in Canada, practice foreign language skills with native students, and learn about Canadian culture.
Intakes: January, September (all programs), February (Elementary/Middle years)
Cost
- Registration fee: 250 CAD
- Tuition:
One semester: 6,000 CAD
Full year: 12,000 CAD
Short-term experience program: 1,200 CAD/month (minimum 3 months)
- Insurance: 500 CAD/year
- Homestay fee: 800 CAD/month (Students 12 or 13 years old pay an additional 50 CAD). High school program for 10 months.

- Transcripts for the last 2 years of school
- Comment letter from homeroom teacher or teacher of Maths or English
- 2 4×6 photos of students
- Passport
